Scripps Invests in Success with Agile
In August 2024, Scripps welcomed Dr. Andrea Hulshult as an Agile Coach to enhance communication, streamline project management, and further cultivate a culture defined by transparency, trust, and accountability. Dr. Hulshult brings exceptional credentials and passion to this role, with more than 20 years of experience in the Agile space and a distinguished career spanning both academia and industry.
Over the last decade, “Agile” has emerged as a new paradigm for project management at organizations of all sizes across diverse business sectors. In contrast to traditional models for project management, Agile is a flexible, iterative approach that allows for short-term cyclical feedback at even the earliest stages of a project, saving time and allowing teams to change course in response to changing situations. As an Agile Coach, Dr. Hulshult’s aim is to teach, inspire, and lead individuals, teams, and organizations as they transform the way they work.
Dr. Hulshult was part of the Miami faculty team that created the Agile Manifesto for Teaching and Learning—now used by educators worldwide—and helped establish the first accredited Agile concentration at any higher education institution globally, right here at ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈÊÓƵ. Her research focuses on applying Agile principles in higher education to enhance instruction, learning outcomes, and ¾Ã¾ÃÈÈÊÓƵ project work. Dr. Hulshult’s industry experience focuses on using Agile in non-tech spaces to improve team cohesiveness and to get the right solutions delivered on time.
"What makes this approach particularly valuable is its emphasis on continuous improvement," notes Dr. Hulshult. "We're not just implementing a static system—we're creating a framework that allows Scripps to evolve alongside changing research priorities and societal needs."
The addition of Dr. Hulshult to the Scripps team positions the Center at the forefront of progressive organizational management in academic settings. As Scripps continues to refine its Agile practices, we anticipate continuous improvements in research output, grant acquisition, and community engagement initiatives.
